What we do


We are especially proud of one thing – our online shop, which is the result of our daily work. On the way to becoming one of the Europe’s largest online discounter, we rely on state-of-the-art technologies that advance our online business. Starting from 2008, we have been running our Java in-house development in Germany. Ever since, we have continued to develop its features and functionalities internationally, steered by current customer needs and
market trends.
Our online shop operates in six countries and the offerings cover only non-food articles, as well as wine, offering more than 30,000 articles to our customers.

Logistics is a central element of our business. The implementation of new warehouse concepts and openings result in technical requirements that are mastered across departments and mapped in many places via SAP EWM. But further developments, which concern the increasing automation of processes or new logistics locations, are exciting challenges that our teams face every day. For our logistics team the on-time delivery of our customers, also internationally, is in the center. Thus, we develop new warehouse concepts and open new locations. We are expanding our network of warehouses across Europe, opening new sites in Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
Besides the online shop, Lidl Digitals projects span across other areas such as the Lidl Plus app.

A team of seasoned professionals in areas like Hybris, SAP, and Testing at our Center of Excellence in Sofia carries out monthly releases in both front-end and back-end systems which set the pace, so that we can fully leverage the possibilities of Agile software development. A modern software architecture, using and introducing up-to-date frameworks, offers every professional the opportunity to contribute to the success of the online shop.
